Peter HuynhLead Principal, Optus-Innov8 Seed Program
Peter leads business development activities for Group Digital L!fe in Australia and is the Lead Principal of the Optus-Innov8 Seed Program. His current focus is on strategic partnerships and investments in the digital space, with a view to growing and supporting the Australian startup community. He is an organiser of Startup Weekend Australia, and has strong relationships across the startup ecosystem both in Australia and in the US.
Prior to joining Singtel Optus, Peter led global business development for Hutchison 3G, working closely with partners such as Google, Facebook and Twitter, as well as mobile devices partners such as Samsung, Sony and HTC.
Peter holds a BA, LLB from the University of Technology, Sydney.
Alfred LoPrincipal, Optus-Innov8 Seed Program
Alfred started his career in digital strategy consulting at PwC and EDS, working with businesses across Asia before moving into corporate development and technology commercialisation roles. Alfred was also director of a cleantech hardware startup Rainpure where he led the development of international award winning products.
Prior to joining Optus, Alfred was involved in his own entrepreneurial pursuits, co-founding Axle8, a geolocation marketing mobile startup as well as running his own digital agency.
Alfred is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, having graduated with merit from UNSW with a B.Com and holds an MBA from AGSM.
Rebecca HayPrincipal, Optus-Innov8 Seed Program
Rebecca has over 13 years working in the digital media industry and is responsible for delivering strategic partnerships, business development and sponsorships.
Within the startup community, Rebecca manages the day-to-day activities to establish partnerships, facilitate sponsorships, as well being an organiser of Startup Weekend Australia.
Rebecca draws from a strong marketing, product development, strategy and delivery background. Prior to joining Optus, Rebecca worked at some of Australia’s leading digital and consulting organisations including SBS, News Digital Media, Telstra BigPond, Ticketek and McKinsey & Company.
SingTel Innov8 (Innov8), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the SingTel Group, is a corporate venture capital fund, with its own set of decision making, approval and funding processes. It has an initial fund size of S$200 million.
Innov8 focuses its investments on technologies and solutions that lead to quantum changes in network capabilities, next generation devices, digital content services and enablers to enhance customer experience. It works closely with the ecosystem of leading innovators, developers, government agencies, R&D and capital providers to bring cutting-edge technologies and solutions to the various markets the SingTel Group operates in.
